Target 1 blank sheet of parchment
You place the writing instruments on the parchment while you call upon a spirit to answer your questions. The called spirit is from the area that you are in, has been dead for at least 100 years, and writes in the language that they spoke in life. They have access to all secrets ever spoken aloud or written down in their language within 5 miles of the location where you perform the ritual. This knowledge is fleeting, and the spirit has limited ability to write.
When you cast this ritual, you can ask a question of the spirit. It answers to the best of its ability, with the GM determining if a secret was ever spoken aloud or written down.
Critical Success The spirit answers your question with 25 words or fewer.
Success The spirit answers your question with 10 words or fewer.
Failure The spirit's writing is garbled and unintelligible.
Critical Failure The spirit's answer is 10 words or fewer and contains false information.
Traits
This rarity indicates that a rules element is very difficult to find in the game world. A rare feat, spell, item or the like is available to players only if the GM decides to include it in the game, typically through discovery during play. Creatures with this trait are rare. They typically can't be summoned. The DC of Recall Knowledge checks related to these creatures is increased by 5.
SecretThe GM rolls the check for this ability in secret.
