Activate Cast a Spell
This carved effigy of a lemur clutches a pen and paper, its expression cackling gleefully. When used as a catalyst to cast a Mad Monkeys spell, the following option is added to the options normally available.
Fierce Debate The monkeys appear frantically scribbling on conjured paper before turning on each other in a fit of rage; those who can speak with animals understand the dispute to be broadly over prose, spelling, and grammar. Creatures in the spell's area are met with a flurry of paper and fur as the resulting fracas obstructs their sight. When the spell ends, paper and pens conjured by this spell disappear.
Critical Success The creature is unaffected and is temporarily immune for 10 minutes.
Success The creature is unaffected.
Failure The creature is Dazzled for 1 round.
Critical Failure The creature is Blinded for 1 round.
Traits
Anything that doesn't list another rarity trait (uncommon, rare, or unique) automatically has the common trait. This rarity indicates that an ability, item, or spell is available to all players who meet the prerequisites for it. A creature of this rarity is generally known and can be summoned with the appropriate summon spell.
CatalystItems that have the catalyst trait are consumable material spell components that alter or magnify specific spells. Activating a catalyst is part of Casting the Spell. The catalyst might increase the number of actions required to Cast the Spell, as indicated in the catalyst's Activate entry. Additionally, the spell gains the manipulate trait if it didn't already. Because the catalyst becomes part of the spell, you can draw the catalyst as part of Casting the Spell.
ConsumableAn item with this trait can be used only once. Unless stated otherwise, it's destroyed after activation. Consumable items include alchemical items and magical consumables such as scrolls and talismans. When a character creates consumable items, they can make them in batches of four.
MagicalSomething with the magical trait is imbued with magical energies not tied to a specific tradition of magic. Some items or effects are closely tied to a particular tradition of magic. In these cases, the item has the arcane, divine, occult, or primal trait instead of the magical trait. Any of these traits indicate that the item is magical.
