Illusionist's HatEquipment 8
Source Pathfinder Adventure Path: Bastion of Blasphemies
Price 500 gp
Weight negligible
The illusionist's hat appears as a tall, black hat with a wide brim and a colorful band around its base. Although popularly associated with themes of magic, this hat is more the province of the entertainer or even the charlatan than of a proper arcanist, and many wizards scoff at those who openly wear such items. You gain a +1 item bonus to Deception checks made to Create a Diversion and to Thievery checks made to [/act palm-an-object].
Activate—What's In My Hat? 2 (concentrate, manipulate)
Frequency once per day
Effect With a flourish, you remove your hat and sweep it before you. The illusionist's hat casts a 3rd-rank Illusory Creature to your specifications, save that the creature created must be an animal. As long as you continue to hold your hat in one hand, you can Sustain this illusion as a free action. Unlike with most illusory creatures, you cannot use your actions to speak through the creature.
Traits
This rarity indicates that a rules element is very difficult to find in the game world. A rare feat, spell, item or the like is available to players only if the GM decides to include it in the game, typically through discovery during play. Creatures with this trait are rare. They typically can't be summoned. The DC of Recall Knowledge checks related to these creatures is increased by 5.
InvestedA character can invest only 10 magical items that have the invested trait. None of the magical effects of the item apply if the character hasn't invested it, nor can it be activated, though the character still gains any normal benefits from wearing the physical item (like a hat keeping rain off their head).
OccultThis magic comes from the occult tradition, calling upon bizarre and ephemeral mysteries. Anything with this trait is magical. A creature with this trait is primarily constituted of or has a strong connection to occult magic.
