Activate 1 (manipulate) The ancient lost artifact known as the Radiant Spark could bestow its flames upon the wick of any candle, after which the electric-blue flame would burn eternally until it is activated or the candle itself is jostled enough to move it (see Destruction below).
You activate a flame of the Radiant Spark either by using your fingers to extinguish the flame or by blowing it out, causing the crackling blue energy to leap into your body and then settle in one of your hands. The blue flame continues to burn harmlessly on your hand, shedding illumination equivalent to a candle, and it can be extinguished only by your death or by expending it through calling upon the flame's power to cast a 6th-rank raise dead to your specifications. You can hold only one flame of the Radiant Spark at a timeβif you activate another flame before your current one is extinguished, the new flame replaces the previous one. The PCs can get a hint at how to use the flames of the Radiant Spark in Sarnax's Tomb by deduction, as well as by careful study of the Radiant Spark wall panel at area B8.
Destruction While the Radiant Spark itself is nearly as indestructible as any other artifact, these flames created by its power are fragile. A candle bearing a flame of the Radiant Spark can burn forever, but any attempt to move the candle (including any accidental toppling over caused by nearby events) causes the flame to gutter. The flame can still be claimed if someone extinguishes it with their fingers within a minute, otherwise the flame goes out. Curiously, wind and water cannot extinguish a flame of the Radiant Spark once it burns on a candle's wick unless the force of the wind or water causes the candle itself to topple or float away.
